1992 SHMS was founded in 1992 as a Private Hotel Management school and registered with the Department of Public Instruction in the Canton of Vaud.

Swiss Quality: 
Member of ASEH since 1992In 1992 the Swiss Hotel Schools Association (ASEH) recognized the quality of the programmes offered at ths university and granted full accreditation. ASEH conducts regular reviews of programmes and facilities to ensure this ongoing quality.University of Derby: 2004, partnership with University of Derby, UK.Graduates of the BA (Hons) and MA Programmes at this university receive both Swiss and British awards. The BA (Hons) and MA degrees are awarded by the University of Derby, a leading university in the fields of hospitality and tourism.

AH&LA Certification:
In recognition of the increasing global demand for Swiss Hospitality education and to ensure the global relevance of our curriculum, Our university has a license to deliver the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AH&LA) diploma.

Industry Placements:
An important element of our programme, students are required to complete two internships of a minimum of four months each in order to advance to the higher diploma and bachelor level.
