Description

Located in Switzerland, Le Châtelard is an international educational center dedicated to the integral formation of young ladies.  Le Châtelard seeks to complement and perfect our students’ previous formation by drawing from the best that European culture has to offer. The Swiss Alps and the nearby Lake Geneva provide the ideal setting and backdrop for an educational experience that offers ample opportunities for personal growth.

Jean-Louis Dufour built the luxurious Grand Hotel between 1873 and 1874 in Les Avants, a little town above Montreux. It opened in 1877 to guests and was later modernized and enlarged in 1900 and in 1911. Several famous people lodged in it, such as Ernest Hemingway, who talks about Les Avants in his famous book Farewell to Arms. It closed in 1936, during the economic crisis.

Choosing Le Châtelard Academy is choosing an integral formation for an inspirational year not only in one of the most beautiful and peaceful areas in Switzerland but also a safe, happy and secure environment.

Young ladies of all nationalities come to study whilst experiencing European culture and etiquette. The academy is a big family with both human and catholic values where lifelong friendships are made.

Our students savor delicious European food and have the advantage of learning from the Le Cordon Bleu chef.  In winter the girls ski each weekend and throughout the year speak and have all their classes in French.  They also benefit from a Savoir Vivre day every week and do volunteer work with the elderly, the sick and the disadvantaged.
